Purpose and Values
Propósito
Nuestra Comunidad tiene como propósito aims to promote female leadership on boards of directors with women who are prepared for both the being (leadership) and the doing (corporate governance) to successfully contribute to companies’ development and generate change in society. It carries out activities in the interest of its members through the following actions:
Nurtures connections between members of the community through networking and the integration of all participants.
Promotes training and capacity building activities on issues aligned to its purpose, which is to strengthen and promote the participation of the Community’s women in leadership positions.
Develops and promotes mentoring programs as a tool to improve the skills and knowledge of women in the Community.
Promotes and organizes awareness events related to the importance of gender diversity on boards of directors.
Makes the Community visible through its spokesperson, and participation in forums and media, in order to bring the Community’s female talent closer to the offer of positions on companies and organizations’ boards of directors.
It relies on allies for making progress on its purpose.
Values
As a Community, we understand integrity as the firmness and principles behind our women’s actions, which are consistent with our values and convictions. The women in our community have integrity because they are consistent and therefore trustworthy. They are also honest, respectful and responsible.
Our community considers empathy as the willingness to embrace human diversity, understanding others thoughts and emotions with a consideration of their history, possibilities and contexts. We are empathetic when reflecting on the other person’s experience in order to better understand their actions and strengthen our relationship with them.
Sorority, or sisterhood, is the propensity we have to be supportive and care for one another, which derives from the support that should exist between women. Sorority is the main basis for the social capital necessary to transform the structural conditions that impact us as women, with a view to guaranteeing spaces for equity, care and sustainable development.
We understand empowerment as the actions of women that lead us to increase our capacities and possibilities. From our service as leaders, empowering ourselves means persisting in seeking fair and equitable access to resources and opportunities, promoting inclusivity in our organizations’ strategic decisions.
As women of our Community, we understand transcendence to be our decision to accept and honor our vocation as leaders of a necessary and urgent social transformation, which must endure beyond our existence to guarantee better living conditions for generations to come. We recognize that our impact comes from the service we perform – a service that seeks to transform the social realities of our society.
